Building your business presence

Buyers are judging your business before they message you.
Important Note for Sellers: To set up a business profile which is mandatory for sellers, create an account with an email address from your business domain (Example - [email protected]).

You’ve spent years building your reputation. You know your equipment, your refurbishment standards, your service record. But a buyer who finds you online for the first time knows none of that.

They see a name. Maybe a logo. Maybe nothing else.

In medical technology, that’s a hard position to be in. Equipment is expensive, regulated and tied to patient care, and buyers are careful. Buyers are advised to confirm a refurbisher’s compliance with ISO 13485 or FDA quality regulations, because not all resellers meet the same standards. If buyers are vetting sellers that closely, a thin profile makes you look like a risk.

Why a profile does more work than you’d think

Trust is commercial, not just a nice-to-have. Forrester found that buyers who trust a supplier are twice as likely to recommend that company, and more likely to pay a premium to work with it. The survey covered 1,420 purchase influencers, and competence, consistency and dependability were the top trust criteria.

Online, your profile is often the first place a buyer looks for those signals. Research on B2B marketplaces shows that supplier characteristics presented on a marketplace act as credible signals of quality and commitment, and affect whether a buyer asks for a quote.

A clear profile answers the basic questions before anyone has to ask them: who are you, what do you do, and where are you based?

Where buyers will see it

Your Gerätor business profile isn’t tucked away in a settings menu. It shows up in several places:

  • On your dedicated business page
  • In the seller information on each of your listings in search results
  • On your listing detail pages
  • In chat messages

So the buyer comparing three similar listings, or reading your first reply, can see who you are without asking. You can also edit your profile (Nurture plan and above) whenever your business changes.

Before you start: you need a business email

Gerätor recognises public email addresses (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Outlook, Protonmail and similar). If you’re signed up with one, you won’t be able to create a business profile. Instead, you’ll be prompted to get a business domain and email, with GoDaddy offered as an option, and you can log out to create a new account with your business email.

Public email? Get a business domain and email to create your profile.

If you already have a business email on your own domain, you can go straight ahead. If not, Gerätor partners with GoDaddy so you can register a domain and email in one place. A branded address like [email protected] reads as more established anyway.

Step 1: Tell us about your business

Fill in your business details. Buyers and suppliers will see these, so use your registered business name and keep everything accurate.

Add your business details, the first thing buyers and suppliers see.

Step 2: Your business genre, ownership, and size

Choose your business genre, ownership and size from the dropdown lists. This is how a solo service technician and a multi-site refurbisher tell buyers what to expect. Choose the options that fit you honestly, since a buyer weighing a large order will care.

Your business profile takes four steps, and buyers will see it wherever they meet you on Gerätor. Add your business whenever you’re ready.

Step 3: Expertise highlights and description

This is where you get specific. “We sell medical equipment” tells a buyer nothing. Name what you’re actually good at, such as the modalities you refurbish, the brands you service or the regions you supply.

You have room for a short expertise highlight (170 characters) and a slightly longer description (500 characters). That’s enough for a clear pitch, so lead with what matters most to a buyer. If you hold certifications such as ISO 13485, this is the natural place to mention them in your own words.

Step 4: Location, logo and banner

Add your business address, then your brand assets. Both have strict specs:

  • Logo: PNG or JPEG, 600 × 600 pixels (1:1), under 0.5 MB
  • Banner: PNG or JPEG, 1920 × 1080 pixels (16:9), under 1 MB
Add your business address, logo and banner to complete your profile.

Prepare both before you start so you’re not resizing halfway through.

What this looks like in practice

  • The refurbisher launching a new line. You’ve started refurbishing patient monitors. Buyers who know you for ultrasound need a reason to believe you. A clear expertise description gives them one.
  • The independent service technician. Hospitals and clinics can’t judge you from a name alone. A profile with your specialisations and location makes you easy to shortlist.
  • The new trader. You’re buying and selling well, but still using a personal email. Setting up a domain and business email through GoDaddy is a quick way to look as professional as you are.
  • The growing distributor. If you’re ready to move beyond a domain to a full website, Cloudways offers managed cloud hosting built for speed, security and performance.

Treat your profile as the start of due diligence

A profile isn’t proof of anything on its own. Verification of any kind should support a buyer’s due diligence, not replace it. Your profile gets you taken seriously, and your documentation, service records and responsiveness do the rest. Proof from other customers helps as well: 23% of B2B buyers named customer testimonials as a top trust factor.
